When will I receive all the final information, maps, key instructions etc?
 
Approximately 6 weeks before your date of travel as soon as your balance payment has been received.
 
Can we collect the car from the Airport itself / can we be collected from the Airport and taken to the villa / can the car be delivered to the villa?

If we are flying into Lisbon Airport can car hire also be arranged?
 
Yes, but we will have to quote different prices to those shown on the website.
 
Can we go into the villa before 2 p.m. on arrival?
 
It is essential that maids have sufficient time to prepare the villa for new guests. We try to make it possible for you to dump your luggage and return later.
 
Is there a welcome pack?
 
Since supermarkets are now open for such long hours we find that clients generally prefer to do their own shopping. However, comprehensive food hampers can be supplied on request. Please click here for details.
 
Is there a maid service?
 
Yes – normally in the mornings and hours vary according to the size of the villa. Maids do not normally work Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holidays. Washing up, personal laundry and cooking is not included although she may be prepared to offer these extra services at an additional cost if time permits. All our maids are completely trustworthy.
 
Can we use the washing machine?
 
Yes, but we suggest you ask the maid to show you how it works. Also, you should not use it when she is there since it is needed for the villa linen, towels etc.
 
Can we use the telephone?
 
Yes – the villas have telephone meters and itemised accounts so we can easily monitor your calls. In addition most villas have telephone jack plugs enabling internet access. Some villas also have broadband – please check individual villa descriptions.
 
Is there a TV and what channels can we expect to receive?
 
All villas have TV and most have satellite TV which means access to “Free to Air” channels which generally include BBC 1, 2, 3, 4 and ITV 1 and 2, plus Sky and CNN news and cartoon channels. Please refer to the specific villa description.
 
Is there a safe in the villa?
 
Most of the villas have safes, please refer to the specific villa description. Details of location, code numbers etc will be sent with your final documentation.
 
Who can I contact if there is a problem?
 
In all cases you can always contact Barbara Read Villas on local Telephone Number: 282 789 880. Some villas have their own villa managers who should be contacted in the event of any problems and this contact number will be in the villa information brochure. A representative of Barbara Read Villas will contact you.
 
Can we stay in the villa after 10 a.m. on departure?
 
Usually no – since the maids must have time to prepare for the new guests. But at most villas it is possible to leave baggage in the hall and return later to collect it. We will do our utmost to accommodate clients where possible.
 
Are towels and bed linen provided?
 
Yes – bed linen is changed weekly; towels 2 x weekly.
Beach towels are not usually provided.
 
Is the villa heated?
 
Most villas have log burners plus electrical radiators. Some have central heating. Please refer to individual villa descriptions. Heating is charged extra.
 
Can cots, high chairs and baby sitting be provided?

What happens if we accidentally break something?
 
We collect a breakages deposit from you (details will be shown on your confirmation) which will be returned at the end of your holiday less any charges for breakages, telephone etc.
 
Do we need insurance?
 
European citizens are entitled to Portuguese state medical care – but you need to obtain a card from your national health authority. However, it is recommended that you arrange private insurance to cover for personal accidents, loss of baggage, villa / flight / car cancellation as well as medical care.
